3-Ingredient Peanut-Free Dog Treats
This is a 3-ingredient peanut-free dog treat that the pups will go crazy for. And it is a very nice treat on a hot day for your fur baby. We make these pup treats in a few big batches so that they will last for a long time. We also share them with our neighbors' dogs who also go crazy for them! Nothing better than treating the pups on an extremely hot day with a frozen treat. We split the batch in half in the freezer and half in the refrigerator. It's nice to have the option of having a frozen treat or just a cold treat for them. On those really hot days where you break a sweat just walking out of the door, it is nice to have the frozen treat for them to cool them down.Â
Â
Let’s face it, people who have a peanut allergy have a hard time finding safe treats for their fur babies because almost every treat for a dog contains peanut butter. This isn’t fair to the pup because well they lead a treatless life and it isn’t fair to the parent because they can’t give their pups a well-deserved treat due to the fact it might contain peanut butter and that can kill them. However, you can make your own with just a few ingredients and a shopping trip on Amazon to snag some silicon molds. I want to say we had a blast shopping for them and finding different shapes for the treats. I’ll leave some of the silicon mold links down at the bottom of the recipe.Â
Â
In doing the research for these treats I found that there are the same health benefits in using coconut oil as humans have. Coconut oil improves skin and coat health, boosts immune function, aids in digestion, supports joint health, promotes dental health, and helps with weight management. When using cinnamon you should use small amounts, it is not recommended to use a measurement greater than 1 tsp. So, my rule of thumb is when making these for my littles I use ½ tsp, and when I make a batch for big dogs, I will use 1 tsp. Also, I am not a veterinarian so if you have concerns or your dog has health issues give them a call and see if it would be ok to use. You can always leave the cinnamon out and the treats will be just as good for the fur babies!Â

3-ingredient peanut-free dog treatsÂ
1 cup Organic SunbutterÂ
1cup Organic coconut oil (Wellsley Organic naturally refined coconut oil 56 oz from BJ’s or Azure Market Organics Coconut Oil)Â
½ tsp cinnamon for a small dog, 1 tsp cinnamon or a large dog *This optional and can be left out (Starwest Organic Ceylon cinnamon)Â
Silicon molds to refrigerate or freeze treats in (link below)
Â
Add to a heavy bottom pan the 1 cup organic coconut oil and stir until it is melted.Â
When coconut oil is melted, you will want to add the 1 cup Sunbutter and if you are adding cinnamon now is the time to add it. Stir continuously to mix well and prevent burning. Stir until your mixture has the consistency of soup.Â
Remove from heat and carefully fill the silicon molds, now you will either put them in the refrigerator or the freezer depending on how you will be storing them. Let them set for 2-4 hours.Â
Store treats in a mason jar or any other airtight jar in the fridge or the freezer. Make sure you give your fur baby(ies) a treat!Â
